The International Commission on Dynamical Meteorology (ICDM) held its 2012 workshop in China on 6-9 August, 2012. The workshop featured a series of keynote lectures from research scientists working on synoptic dynamics, climate dynamics and variability of the atmospheric circulations such as Monsoon systems, the El Niño-Southern Oscillation, Arctic & Antarctic Oscillations, tropical & extratropical cyclones, and extreme events associated with those circulation systems. It also addressed predictability on a wide range of timescales, from weather prediction, through to seasonal and decadal climate prediction.

The ICDM is a constituent Commission of the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS). It is composed of scientists from a wide range of countries who are committed to furthering the pursuit of and international cooperation in the science of dynamical meteorology.
